Wind Energy Overtakes Coal in Europe

A report from The Guardian states that last year, 86% of new power in Europe derived from renewable sources.

This trend hopes to pave the way for EU nations to hit their renewable energy targets before 2020.

The 86% of energy comprises of a mixture of renewable sources such as wind, solar, biomass and hydro.

Former wind industry leaders Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece are now in the shadows of the likes of Germany, who last year installed the most new wind capacity on the continent.

Beyond 2020, current EU members, including the UK will have to submit renewable plans to the European commission by the end of the year.
